Privacy Policy for StudyOnTheGo
Effective Date: September 1, 2026
StudyOnTheGo ("the App") is developed and published by Psychra Private Limited ("we," "us," "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information when you use it.
Summary
StudyOnTheGo is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, or have access to your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal information. All notes, folders, flashcards, tasks, and files you create in the App stay on your device unless you personally choose to share or export them. The App does display ads through Google AdMob, which independently collects limited technical information for ad delivery — details are in the Advertising section below.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use the App. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or phone number
- Your location
- Your contacts
- Any login credentials
The App does use two third-party Google services — Firebase Crashlytics (for crash reporting) and Google AdMob (for advertising) — each of which independently collects limited technical data as described in the Crash Reporting and Advertising sections below. Neither has access to the content you create in the App.
Your Content
All content you create in the App — study notes (text, image, PDF, audio, and video attachments), folders, flashcards ("Quickees"), and tasks — is stored locally on your device only, using on-device storage. This content is never transmitted to us or to any server we control. We have no ability to view, access, or recover this content.
If you uninstall the App or lose your device without a backup, this content cannot be recovered by us, because we never had a copy of it.
Export and Backup
The App allows you to export your notes and data as a backup file, either by saving it to your device or sharing it through your device's share options (for example, WhatsApp, Email, or a cloud storage app of your choice). This export happens entirely on your device and only occurs when you actively choose to do so. We do not receive a copy of any exported data.
Sharing Notes
The App lets you share individual notes through your device's native share options (for example, WhatsApp or Email). This uses your device's own sharing tools; we do not intermediate, receive, or store the content you choose to share.
Device Permissions
The App may request the following permissions, used solely to provide App functionality on your device:
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Photo Library | To let you attach images and videos to your notes from your device's gallery |
| Notifications | To remind you of upcoming task due dates you've set within the App |
| Biometric / Device Authentication | To let you optionally lock the App with your fingerprint, face recognition, or device passcode |
None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit personal data. They exist solely so the App can function as intended on your device.
Crash Reporting
The App uses Firebase Crashlytics, a service provided by Google, to help us identify and fix technical crashes and errors. Crashlytics collects anonymous, technical diagnostic information (such as device type, operating system version, and details about the crash itself) when the App unexpectedly stops working. This information is not linked to your identity and does not include any of your notes, folders, tasks, or other App content.
For more information on how Firebase Crashlytics handles data, see Firebase's Privacy and Security documentation and Google's Privacy Policy.
Advertising
The App displays advertisements through Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service provided by Google. To deliver and measure ads, AdMob may automatically collect certain technical information from your device, such as your advertising identifier, IP address, device type, and general usage data related to ads (for example, which ads were shown or clicked). This information is collected and processed by Google, not by us, and is separate from your App content — AdMob has no access to your notes, folders, tasks, or other content you create in the App, since that content never leaves your device.
You can control ad personalization through your device's advertising settings (for example, "Opt out of Ads Personalization" in your device's privacy or Google settings). For more information on how Google collects and uses data through AdMob, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and Google's Privacy Policy.
Children's Privacy
StudyOnTheGo is designed to be useful for students of all ages, including minors. Because the App does not itself collect any personal information from any user, this design applies equally to users under the age of 18 — we have no mechanism to collect, and do not collect, personal information from children.
Regarding advertising: where required by applicable law (such as COPPA in the United States) or Google's own policies, ads served through AdMob to users known to be children are restricted from being personalized and are limited to child-appropriate treatment. We configure the App's ad settings in line with Google AdMob's requirements for apps that may be used by a mixed audience including children. Parents or guardians with questions about ad data practices can review Google's information for families or adjust device-level ad settings as noted in the Advertising section above.
Data Deletion
Because all your content is stored only on your device, you are always in full control of it. You can delete individual notes, folders, flashcards, and tasks at any time from within the App. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored App data from your device (except for any backups you have separately exported and saved elsewhere).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in App functionality. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
