Baatein Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 5, 2026
Baatein is a free 1:1 chat app made by Psychra Private Limited (Sampat Sadan, Sardarshahar, Rajasthan, India — "we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what choices you have. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
What Baatein does
Baatein lets you send text messages, photos, videos, files, and voice notes to another person, one-to-one. It shows you when your partner is online, when your messages are read, and lets you edit or delete messages you've sent. Baatein is completely free to use — there are no paid plans, subscriptions, or in-app purchases. Every account gets 1GB of free storage for media and files, and the app is supported by ads (via Google AdMob).
Information we collect
Information you give us directly
We keep this to a minimum. We collect:
- Your name
- Your phone number (used to create and verify your account)
- Your profile photo, if you choose to upload one (this is optional — you can use the app without one, and a placeholder image is shown until you add your own)
That's it — we don't ask for anything else to create your account.
Your user content
This is the content you create by using the app: the text messages, photos, videos, files, and voice notes you send. This is stored so it can be delivered and displayed in your chats.
Information created by using the app
- Read receipts and online/last-seen status
- How much storage you've used (every account has a 1GB free limit, so we track usage to enforce it)
- Basic device and app diagnostic information (crash logs, app version, general usage patterns) to help us fix bugs and improve the app
Information from ads
Baatein shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier (a resettable ID, not your name or number), your IP address, general device information, and diagnostic data, to show and measure ads. You can limit this:
- iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads
If you don't allow ad tracking, you'll still see ads — they just won't be personalized to you. See Google's ad privacy practices at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
What we don't do
- We don't read or scan your message content for advertising purposes.
- We don't sell your personal information to data brokers.
- We don't knowingly let anyone under 13 use Baatein, and we don't knowingly collect advertising identifiers from users we know are children.
How we use your information
- To deliver your messages, show read receipts, and keep your account working
- To enforce the 1GB storage limit and let you know when you're close to it
- To detect and prevent abuse, spam, or violations of our terms
- To fix bugs and improve app performance
- To show and measure ads through AdMob
- To contact you about account or security issues
Who we share information with
- Google / Firebase — our backend infrastructure runs on Firebase (Google Cloud), which stores your messages, media, and account data
- Google AdMob — for showing and measuring ads, as described above
- Law enforcement or courts — only if legally required to disclose information
We do not share your personal data with advertisers, marketers, or third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
Where your data is stored
Baatein's backend runs on Firebase/Google Cloud infrastructure, which may store data on servers outside your home country. Wherever your data is processed, we require appropriate safeguards to keep it secure, consistent with applicable data protection laws (including GDPR-style safeguards for EU/UK users, where relevant).
How long we keep your data
- Messages you delete for yourself are hidden from your view but may remain in our systems for a period as part of normal backend operation
- Messages you delete "for everyone" (only available for messages you sent) are hidden for both users; any attached media file is permanently deleted from storage at that point, and your storage-used counter is reduced accordingly
- Deleting an entire chat has the same effect, applied to every message in it that you sent: each one is permanently removed for both users, in the same way as "delete for everyone," and any attached media is deleted from storage, reducing your storage-used counter accordingly. This does not affect messages the other person sent — those remain visible on their side unless and until they delete the chat or those messages themselves
- Account data is kept for as long as your account is active, plus a limited period afterward to handle disputes or legal obligations
- Diagnostic/crash logs are retained for a limited period for troubleshooting, then deleted
Your choices and rights
- Delete a message you received: use "Delete for me" to hide it from your own view only — the sender's copy is unaffected
- Delete a message you sent: use "Delete for everyone" to remove it, and any attached media, from both your and the recipient's view, at any time. This can't be undone
- Delete a chat: removes every message you sent in that conversation, for both you and the other person, and frees the storage used by your own media — in one action. It does not remove messages the other person sent; if they haven't also deleted the chat, they'll continue to see their own messages, so the conversation may appear one-sided from their side afterward. This can't be undone
- Delete your account: go to Profile → Delete Account in the app. You'll be asked to confirm, since this can't be undone — once confirmed, your account and personal details are deleted directly from within the app, no need to email us
- Access or correct your data: contact us and we'll help
- Opt out of personalized ads: use your device's ad settings as described above
If you're in the EU/UK, you additionally have rights under GDPR to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, to object to certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
If you're in California, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know what we collect, delete it, correct it, opt out of "sharing" (which can include advertising identifiers passed to AdMob), and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Wherever you are, if your local law gives you additional rights (such as India's DPDP Act), we'll honor requests made under that law.
Children
Baatein isn't intended for anyone under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information or advertising identifiers from children under 13. If you believe a child has used Baatein and given us information, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and let you know through the app or by email.
